2020-21 has been a challenging time for North Wales Tourism, with many businesses forced to close.
Determined to spend the time productively and get the 2021 season going as fast as possible, many tourist businesses have used the downtime productively to get their websites updated – and popular farm attraction, Manorafon Farm Park, was no exception.
Our design team spoke extensively with the owners and we understood that we would need to create an exciting site that delivered an instant impression of the fun family days out for which the attraction is known and loved, and a user experience that felt part of a planned visit from the moment guests arrived on the website.
To achieve this, the design incorporates the characters from the farm’s logo, subtly sending out the message that ‘your kids will love this place’, reinforced by video footage and real-life family experiences that autoplay when the site is loaded. Crucially, the full motion video could not slow the speed of the site and the design team were able to achieve this through careful editing, creating a smooth, scrolling experience that flows beautifully.
The site has a strong focus and a clear call to action – to book tickets, however the site also features extensive visitor information for visitors who want to plan their visit, and a map to help them navigate their route.
The website was developed inline with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.
Designed on the WordPress platform, with Designweb responsible for maintaining WordPress updates, the site offers a modern platform designed to engage parents and increase bookings.
Our high-quality website hosting service with high availability means the site will remain operational even when there is high demand during peak visitor season – and the SSL certificate ensures Google compliance and enables the site to accept payments securely online, protecting the park and it’s visitors.
Like many tourist businesses, we’ve been closed for part of the season due to COVID 19 restrictions, and we were determined to use this time constructively by investing in the re-design of our website.
Designweb have an excellent reputation so we came with high expectations and we were not disappointed.
The team were genuinely helpful and kept us informed at every stage of the process. We felt the design team really grasped what we do from the get- go – the new site is so welcoming and really gives customers a good feel for what to expect and a positive user experience even before their visit.
We have had excellent feedback already and visitors love the new site – we cannot wait to start welcoming them in person again soon. Will Arrowsmith – Managing Director
